This is an actual case study that was presented to the participants of the Financial Modeling World Cup 2022, Stage 4 (June 10-13).

Case study description:

Sally SaaS needs help in making sense of raw CRM data and generating summary statistics for a potential acquisition of another SaaS business. The objective is to evaluate the potential acquisition and make informed decisions.

The CRM data spans from 1/1/2012 to 12/31/2021, and six fields have been provided, including customer ID, order date, monthly term, discount percentage, sales representative, and payment terms. It is necessary to calculate churn rates and consider the effects of contract renewals on revenue. Furthermore, the rate card pricing for orders beginning in 2012 is $10,000 per month, increasing by 5% each year. Most customers can negotiate discounts of up to 24%. The accrued revenue will be spread out evenly across each day of service, and sales commissions will be paid at the end of each month.
