This is an actual case from the Financial Modeling University Championship (Spring 2022), Round 1 (April 9-10).

Case study description:
You have just started as an analyst at a music publishing company. The music publisher controls copyrights and collects royalties from many sources throughout the world. Royalties are earned when songs are used in various ways, such as broadcasts, streams, and sales. The publisher has paid advances of royalties to several songwriters and will recoup those advances from royalties it collects. Your job is first to organize the data such that you can calculate monthly revenue per songwriter. Second, you will analyze which songwriters have repaid their advances and calculate the publisher’s internal rate of return (IRR) on its investment in those songwriters.
